Disclaimer: Disney sent me to Los Angeles on an all-expenses paid press trip, in exchange for my coverage of these events, including the JCPenney Glam Ball and red carpet premiere of Cinderella. All opinions are my own.
It wasn’t all that long ago when I received a most-coveted invitation to attend the red carpet premiere of Cinderella. But there was more….so much more. You see, I (along with 24 other fabulous bloggers) had a fairy godmother. This fairy godmother not only made sure I had that golden ticket to the El Capitan Theatre, but made sure I also had an invitation to the ball.
To the ball?
Yes – the Glam Ball!
And that fairy godmother, none other than JCPenney!
The JCPenney Glam Ball was held on the 20th floor (the tippy top) of the Loews Hollywood Hotel. It had incredible panoramic views of the Hollywood hills and Hollywood sign too.
JCPenney thought of everything, right down to every little Cinderella touch they could think of. You think they missed something? Oh, no….we even had our very own princes.
Did you hear that?
While I might have left my Prince Charming at home, JCPenney made sure we were taken care of and had handsome princes who escorted us to the various stations where we would get “glammed” up for the rest of the evening. After all, as soon as the Glam Ball ended, we would be whisked away to the El Capitan Theatre, where ultimately we would step foot on the red carpet.
The Glam Ball consisted of 4 stations including:
- Hair touchups and styling
- Make-up touchups including eyes, lips and blush
- An accessories area including earrings, bracelets, necklaces, clutches, etc.
- A lounge area t0 wait for your turn to be styled
On the arm of a prince, my group first headed to the Accessories station, where we spotted every possible item we’d need to match our dresses for the evening.
I immediately showed a JCPenney stylist a photo of my evening gown. I had already planned on wearing an emerald bracelet my daughter had given me for Christmas, but really wanted the stylists opinion on everything else, right down to clutch. After all, how often do you get to pick the brain of a Hollywood stylist?
She agreed that with the sparkle of my bracelet, we’d skip a necklace yet add some sparkle with drop down earrings. We would finish the red carpet look with a silver clutch that could easily be used again with other outfits, even casual. JCPenney gifted us the items….so generous!
After our red carpet accessories were selected, it was time to relax in the lounge and take advantage of the High Tea Lunch.
From finger sandwiches to bite-size desserts, everything was delicious. There was even a special drink called “The Glass Slipper”, essentially champagne with pomegranate juice and a beautiful sugar rim.
Every last detail……Cinderella themed!
One of the most exciting things I had looked forward to was the makeup station.
I love learning new tricks and they’d especially be focused on the eyes, something I have wanted to learn more about. So with one eye open, I tried to watch everything the makeup artist did….and asked plenty of questions too!
And who took the photos of me? My prince, of course. 🙂
The last stop was hairstyling. I was a bit nervous about this I must admit. I usually love to wear my hair straight, but this was a special occasion. So I took the plunge and trusted the JCPenney stylist, who did an amazing job. She knew that my hair was naturally curly, but also took note that with the rainy weather it could totally frizz on me. She made simple long curls using a flat iron. So interesting and the result…beautiful.
Look at the back of my hair – I wish I had more pictures of the back from the rest of the evening. Love it!
But all those curls later and I still had to get ready for the big night!
I had to hurry! It made me feel like Cinderella running out of the ball while the clock was striking.
While my hair, makeup and accessories were ready to go, there was the dress. Ah, the dress and the shoes. If there was ever an event which called for the perfect dress and shoes, the red carpet premiere of Cinderella would be it!
But JCPenney had one more surprise in store for me…….
I opened up this bag and there was a beautiful little girls Cinderella dress, just like the one in the new movie. Complete with butterflies, it was spectacular. You can find it in stores and online at JCPenney!
JCPenney went above and beyond anything I could have imagined. But it wasn’t over. In fact, it was just beginning.
After getting dressed, I’d be heading over to the pre-premiere reception in the lower level of the El Capitan Theatre, also hosted by JCPenney. There, I’d find the costumes and props from the film. THE GLASS SLIPPER!
Be sure to follow along as over the next two weeks I’ll be bringing you an up close look at the costumes and props (later today), my red carpet experience complete with celebrity appearances (this Friday), interviews with the cast (daily next week), and film review too. I have so much to share!
CINDERELLA opens in theaters everywhere on March 13th!
You have read all about how Cinderella and I have much in common, right?
