Earlier this year I received my first big social media invitation of the year – to New York City, courtesy of Capri Sun. I couldn’t have been more excited about my Capri Sun media trip. Little did I know that the trip would fall right in the middle of several huge snowstorms in the East. Nor did I expect it to snow in Dallas, Texas while I was gone.
Such began my trip with Capri Sun……it was off to an eventful start. I was New York City bound and as you can see from the photo above, there was a blanket of snow everywhere. This photo was taken as we were flying above Ohio. I had some reservations as to whether I would actually see NYC that night, but thankfully the Big Apple welcomed me with open arms (and plenty of snow).
While the big news of the trip was the announcement of the new Capri Sun Clear Bottom Pouch, I was in for 24 hours of fun in addition to learning more about the brand.
Side Note: I was so impressed by how NYC kept their streets during the crazy week of snowstorms. I came prepared with new boots, but the sidewalks were clear and so were the streets. Impressive!
With snow delays galore, I finally made it to Manhattan, albeit a bit late for the dinner plans at Stella 34 Trattoria, located on the 6th floor in Macy’s Flagship store in Midtown. This is the same Macy’s on 34th Street. The same Macy’s which has the most amazing windows decorated at Christmas-time.
You’ll find a private elevator in the rear leading up to Stella 34 Trattoria, a casual yet modern Italian restaurant with amazing views…..more on that later.
Thankfully, I hadn’t missed dinner and quickly caught up with amazing appetizers and getting introduced to everyone. The small group at the table shows you just how intimate of a dinner this was. There were fewer bloggers than those who had worked hard to get us to New York. We learned about their careers, their families and yes, their brand, Capri Sun.
One thing was clear from the start…..Capri Sun was interested in us.
They were interested in our lives as bloggers and why we chose that path. They were curious about our early careers. They spent time getting to know our families (we would REALLY know that the next day). They valued our opinions as moms.
We shared more than just a meal together. But the meal that we shared……AMAZING!
The sea bass was delicious.
But I think it was dessert that stole the show.
I had the Torta Al’Olio – Warm Olive Oil Pound Cake, Apricot Compote, Thyme Syrup, Olive Oil Gelato.
Words cannot express how this satisfied my sweet tooth.
But then there was something else that made me smile. Something so unique to New York City. And while I had arrived to the city much too late (and much too tired) to head out on the town, the view from Stella 34 was perfection.
The Empire State Building was just outside our window during dinner. It was like that scene from Sleepless in Seattle.
And with that, I could simply walk back to the hotel, get a good nights sleep, and know that the city awaited me the next day.
Stay tuned for Day 2 (My Capri Sun Media Trip – From New York City to Tarrytown)!
