Red carpet events.
I’d been watching them on television since I was a little girl. Whether it was the Oscars or another black tie Hollywood affair, there was no denying the glamour of it all. They were for the Hollywood elite, the A-list celebrities who were photographed at every turn in gorgeous gowns and tuxedos.
Little did I know that one day I’d be taking steps on a red carpet (thereafter followed by a purple one, then a blue one, and even a maroon one).
Let me be very blunt – though I’ve always agreed with my Grandma that celebrities are just like everyone else and “put their pants on one leg at a time”, I can’t help but be mesmerized by the red carpet experience, each and every time.
The red carpet that almost never was.
You read that right. There was one night where my attendance at a Hollywood red carpet premiere was in jeopardy. I was scared. After all, I had been flown out at another’s expense for this.
I was back at the hotel after an action-packed day to get ready for the premiere. There was so much to do. Order room service real quick so I didn’t starve while waiting for the premiere party. Try to rest. Get cleaned up. Hair. Makeup.
Something that wasn’t on the agenda – a migraine.
If you had asked me 10 years ago what a migraine was, I wouldn’t have really been able to explain it. I only knew one person at the time who had mentioned having one. As I’ve gotten older, I realize just how much more common migraines are.
Maybe it was getting older. Maybe it was becoming a mom. All I know is that shortly after giving birth, I started having migraines. I’d always had headaches, especially horrible ones brought on by allergies, but these were different and almost always accompanied by nausea. Debilitating nausea. (Note: Consult your doctor if you think you are suffering from migraines.)
So as I sat there in my luxurious hotel room in the heart of Hollywood, I was terrified when I felt the first signs of a migraine coming on. I knew I was in serious danger of not being able to attend, and that would have been so incredibly disappointing. I did NOT want to make that phone call.
Thankfully I don’t battle these things alone. Excedrin® Migraine is something that I’ve learned never to leave the house without.
It’s with me when I travel. It’s with me when I go to the grocery store. It certainly is with me on the red carpet.
Red carpet premieres can be incredibly loud. Imagine the paparazzi yelling out trying to catch a celebrity’s attention. This is then followed by the intense noise watching an action-packed movie. And let’s not forget the after party, complete with live band or music.
It is NO place for a migraine.
That afternoon in the hotel room, I was able to take Excedrin® Migraine before I ever put on my fancy dress or styled my hair. I was lucky, and for me, the red carpet premiere was a night I’ll never forget.
I know that this could happen again, and what if it happened after I’d already left the hotel room and my toiletries. This is where I’ve learned that Excedrin® Migraine will always come with me, even to Hollywood.
What to pack in your evening bag?
I know that most of you reading this will never attend a red carpet premiere, but you will attend weddings, holiday parties and maybe even charity events where you will be limited in the size of your purse or handbag, right?
The typical evening bag or clutch is incredibly small, so small that I wasn’t sure my iphone 6 plus was going to fit in there. While I’m one to normally have absolutely everything from a nail file to a notebook and pen in my purse, this is not the time. You need to pack wisely.
Here are my Top 5 Items:
Phone – This goes without saying as no matter what event you are attending, you will want to take pictures.
Lipstick – This is the one makeup item I will carry with me.
Tissues – For that one scene which will make you cry.
ID and Cash – Just in case your ride leaves without you.
Excedrin® Migraine – Be prepared, because you never know when a migraine will strike.
You see, a migraine deserves a migraine medicine. Excedrin® Migraine starts to relieve migraine pain in 30 minutes and of course Use as Directed.
But you may be dealing with other types of headaches, and for those, Excedrin® has a solution too. You can easily find all of these at your local Walmart.
- Excedrin® Extra Strength – Fast Headache Relief, for some, relief starts in just 15 minutes.
- Excedrin® Tension Headache – Aspirin-free headache relief.
- Excedrin® PM Headache – Night time headache relief to help you sleep
I know my pick is Excedrin® Migraine and it helps me
during the most important moments where hiding under the covers in pain is not an option.
Tell me, what big moment has been threatened by a headache?
