With it being Royal Wedding week and all, it’s the perfect time to talk Weddings – and that’s just what we did to kick off the 2011 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration last month.
As we all headed to our first event, we were given Bride Minnie ears (which my daughter has now confiscated) when we approached Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, situated on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon.
We headed to Franck’s Studio, where we viewed some amazing wedding cakes. Amazing. We enjoyed a fun welcoming reception outside the studio, candy-themed. I mingled with favorite blogging friends like Cathi, Beth, and Mariana, while we filled up cute little treat boxes with bright-colored candy. Hmmm…..how did Disney know that I always wanted a Hammonds lollipop?
We were then ushered into the Pavilion quickly as we caught quick glimpses of mannequins dressed in Alfred Angelo’s Fairy Tale Weddings Collection – each one so different, detailed, and inspired by Disney princesses. They are not outrageously priced, starting at $599, and are in stores already.
We met our hosts for the night, which included a hilarious Franck (Franck’s studio)…..but I want you to think Franck from Father of the Bride, because that’s exactly who he was (he’d give Martin Short a run for his money).
Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year……did you know that Disney has married 40,000 couples?
We were surprised with the debut of the Cinderella Platinum Anniversary Gown….so beautiful! We enjoyed a live vow renewal, inspiring talks, and a surprise visit from David Tutera!
Yes, I’ve been known to watch My Fair Wedding….and LOVE how David transforms a bride’s vision into something amazing. Have you seen his books – one on Disney weddings? What a heart he has as well, and a few tears were shed as he talked about an upcoming show.
FRUGAL TIP: Yes, David Tutera shared a frugal wedding tip….
Trinkets should be the last thing you buy, not the first, if it’s even in the budget at all. He explains that most brides get excited and buy the stuff that no one ever notices.
Next, we joined our families at the “Good Times Get Together at the Grand”, held on the beachfront of the Seven Seas Lagoon, in between the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and the Wedding Pavilion.
We enjoyed great food, good friends, and amazing entertainment.
Yes, that’s a Cinderella balloon……oh my, Billy the balloon guy (I forgot his last name), made such amazing Disney characters out of balloons. After my daughter’s Cinderella popped when she fell (oh, the crying), he made her a Little Mermaid. Adorable! Billy was the last one to leave that night I think….such a huge hit!
As for me, the night was so enjoyable……and I got to spend it with my family. A huge thank you to Disney for knowing just how important our families are to us, and letting them join in the celebrating too.
Did this tempt you to enjoy a Disney Wedding or Honeymoon? Maybe a Vow Renewal? I’ll admit it did me. And really, Disney weddings are not just princesses and castles……with Disney, theming is everything, and that goes for weddings too.
VOW RENEWAL DEAL: Disney has weddings to fit many different budgets, and now there’s a special Vow Renewal Deal to celebrate the 20th anniversary:
The Memories Collection is priced at $1,991 in honor of the 1991 opening year of Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons, and will take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m.
It includes up to six guests, including the couple, a floral bouquet for the bride, solo violinist, transportation (three-hour limousine charter) and a professional photographer for one hour.
Ceremony locations include: Conch Key Marina at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Narcoossee’s Landing at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Luau Beach at Disney’s Polynesian Resort.
(I paid a modest fee to attend the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, which included a room at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, park tickets and extraordinary events, parties, and perks. There was no requirement to blog about Disney, the conference or the events. All opinions are my own!)
