This was my little one 2 years ago on the 4th of July! I made her a 4th of July T-shirt and wanted to share how easy it was with you.

4th of July Flag Button & Applique T-Shirt
Materials:
- Navy or Blue Cotton No-Pocket T-shirt
- 4 White Star Buttons (I found these at Hobby Lobby)
- Red Ribbon
- White Ribbon
- White Thread
- Steam-A-Seam 2 Double Stick Fusible Web
– found at most hobby/fabric stores or here linked on Amazon
Simply create a flag shape on the T-shirt using the buttons and ribbon, by cutting 2 different lengths of ribbon, alternating them in pattern.
First, sew the buttons by hand individually onto the T-shirt.
How to Use Fusible Web
Next, either sew the ribbon directly onto the T-shirt or use the Fusible Web for a no-sew version. You’ll need an Iron if using the Fusible Web, and be sure to follow the directions on the package. I find it much easier to use fusible web and have done so with making Disney trip shirts. See full instructions below where I link to my Thanksgiving shirt tutorial.
If you’ve never used Fusible Web before, be sure to see my Fusible Web Applique Tutorial from a Thanksgiving Shirt post I did.
VARIATIONS: You could cut out white fabric stars and use instead of buttons. You could also use red and white fabric stripes instead of ribbon. I used the ribbon since I already had those colors readily available.
CARE: Be sure to turn the T-shirt inside out when washing on delicate.
You might want to get a T-shirt a couple sizes too big, as my daughter is still able to wear hers this year (probably the last year though).
It couldn’t be easier!
Happy Almost 4th of July!
