Did you think that headlines about dangerous toys were a thing of the past? Well, it’s back again, with the recent allegations of the ever-popular and most-demanded ZhuZhu Pets . Do they have high levels of antimony, which apparently can cause lung, heart, ulcers, and other problems? I don’t know, but I’m watching as I know a grandparent who has one picked out for a little girl I’m particularly fond of.
Thanks to Team Mom, I’ve recently learned of 2 sites, launched by the Toy Industry Association, which helps consumers like you and me navigate the field of toys.
ToyInfo.org – This site is a great place for information, from Stages of Play to Important Links and Resources. You can even sign up for Recall Information from this site. There are also Discussion Boards for everyone to use, which can be invaluable since parents and caregivers often exchange the best information. This is one site that I’ve bookmarked.
ToyAwards.org – I had so much fun visiting this site as it’s the home of the TOTY’s – the “Oscars” of the toy industry. You’ll want to check out the top 7 toys in each of 12 categories including Educational Toy of the Year and Game of the Year.
For extra fun, vote for your favorite toys in each category and you could WIN ALL the toys in your choice of categories!
