Today I’m sharing our must-try Disney World treats IN THE PARKS. There’s so much my family loves about visiting Walt Disney World resort – from the activities to theme park fun and everything in between. Truth be told there’s one category of fun that we can all agree needs to put on any trip itinerary – the food!
Be on the lookout as I will post soon about the best Disney World treats OUTSIDE of the parks (which would include at the resorts, Disney Springs, and more). Affiliate links in post, where I may earn a small commission at no cost to you for any purchases made. From time to time I have been provided complimentary media tickets to enter the parks. Other times I’ve paid my own way.
Must Try Disney World Treats (in the Parks)
While treat options can vary seasonally, I’m sticking with favorites that can be found year-round so that you can plan your trip accordingly. I’ll tackle each park individually and then list some fan favorites you can find at all the theme parks too.
Magic Kingdom Treats
Head to Magic Kingdom for some of the most classic of all Disney snacks and desserts.
You might be surprised at what you haven’t discovered. In fact, we recently traveled with family friends to Walt Disney World for a week and could not believe that they didn’t know about what is perhaps the most iconic of all Disney World treats – the Dole Whip! We had to change that ASAP and introduced their entire family to the wide assortment of what many consider to be the ultimate treat during any Disney vacation.
Dole Whip (and variations)
Where to Find – Aloha Isle in Adventureland (to the side of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and behind The Magic Carpets of Aladdin)
The classic Dole Whip is a frozen creamy treat featuring pineapple and vanilla soft serve. So refreshing on a warm Florida day, but if it’s July, be sure to eat it quickly because it will melt.
Nowadays there are many different ways to order a Dole Whip.
- Classic Dole Whip – this soft serve can be ordered as pineapple (my recommendation and the classic way), vanilla, or a mixture of both. For a few extra dollars you can have it come in a souvenir tiki dish, but my red and white Minnie polka dot cup was pretty cute.
- Dole Pineapple Float – a variation of the classic treat, float style. The pineapple soft serve is added to pineapple juice.
- Pineapple Upside-Down Cake – perfect for those looking for a little something other than soft serve. This cake is served with your choice pineapple or vanilla or swirl Dole Whip on top. YUM!
There are some new variations spotted during this last vacation and I’m curious if they will be around for a while.
- Raspberry Swirl Dole Whip or Raspberry Swirl Float (with pineapple juice)
- Kakamora Float – Coconut soft serve on top of pineapple juice and blue curaçao syrup garnished with a chocolate Kakamora cake pop
Since my daughter loves coconut, next time I’m sure we will have to try the Kakamora Float. If you have never tried any type of Dole Whip, I say order the classic pineapple soft serve in a cup. You can’t go wrong.
TIP: If you LOVE Dole Whips as much as we do, you can even order the pineapple soft serve from Dole on Amazon and have a fun Disney night at home.
Specialty Soft Serve Treats
Where to Find – Storybook Treats in Fantasyland (across the entrance to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train)
I’m sad to announce that the Lost Princess Cone (pictured above) is no longer a thing and I’m seriously hoping Disney will bring it back. The lemon soft serve with edible flowers themed after Rapunzel was everything!
While I’m sad at the news, never fear. There are plenty of other specialty soft serve treats in Fantasyland’s Storybook Treats including the new Arendelle Aqua cone. Imagine cotton candy soft serve with sprinkles and a Mickey sugar cube!
Peter Pan Float
Where to Find – Storybook Treats in Fantasyland (across the entrance to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train)
I perked up on this rainy day thanks this little known treat packed full of flavor. The Peter Pan Float was delicious with lime soft serve, Sprite, and a chocolate edible feather.
TIP: If it’s not too hot (or rainy as in my case), snag the perfect photo with this Peter Pan Float. Head across the way towards Peter Pan’s Flight. To the right of that attraction is where you’ll spy the Neverland Map Wall (and where you can oftentimes find Peter Pan for character autographs and photos).
Minnie’s Cookie Dough Sundae
Where to Find – Storybook Treats in Fantasyland (across the entrance to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train)
While you can never go wrong with a sundae, cookie dough lovers will rejoice over this one right here – Minnie’s Cookie Dough Sundae. Too cute and delicious!
Mickey’s Mini Kitchen Sink Sundae
Where to Find – Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street, U.S.A.
If you’ve stayed on property at Walt Disney World, you might be familiar with a small restaurant located at Disney’s Beach Club Resort called Beaches & Cream. It’s located next to their fabulously themed pool (a short walk from Epcot’s World Showcase side entrance, the Boardwalk area, or a short boat ride from Hollywood Studios). This is the place where an iconic Disney treat like no other is found – the Kitchen Sink. Our family never has even attempted to order this because it’s made for MANY, arrives in a mobile sink, contains I think every topping in the house plus an entire can of whipped cream. But I have an alternative for you!
Yes, there is a Magic Kingdom alternative to the iconic Kitchen Sink and it’s perfect. I’m talking about Mickey’s Mini Kitchen Sink Sundae. I add the term “mini” just so you know that it’s nothing like the one at Beaches and Cream.
It’s ideal for one or two people and offers a choice of hot fudge, peanut butter or caramel topped with whipped cream and two cherries with a choice of two hand-scoops of ice cream.
TIP: Consider this Disney World treat if only for the souvenir (and order one at the end of the night so you don’t have to carry it all day). Yes, your order comes with a kitchen sink, Mickey Mouse style, and it’s yours to take home and recreate the Disney magic!
The Grey Stuff
Where to Find – Be Our Guest in Fantasyland
Always one of the hottest reservations to snag, a meal at Be Our Guest isn’t complete with trying the “Grey Stuff”. Why? It’s delicious! 🙂 True Beauty and the Beast fans will instantly recognize the movie reference.
You will be thrilled to note that the dessert is available no matter the time of day. Yes, you’ll be able to find the “Grey Stuff” on the menu even for breakfast. There’s just a slight difference between meals in how it is served and presented.
For Breakfast or Lunch: The Master’s Cupcake – Chocolate Sponge Cake topped with Lumiere’s special “Grey Stuff”
For Dinner: White Chocolate “Chip” Cup with Grey Stuff and Crisp Pearls comes as part of the included Dessert Trio with your meal.
Epcot Treats
Next up, we head to Epcot for some of the most scrumptious treats found around the world. It is in Epcot’s World Showcase where you will spend most of your time being tempted at every turn. With so many countries represented, it’s hard to turn down a snack. “Eating around the World” is most definitely a thing.
Oh, there are crepes and macarons in France and gelato in Italy, but if I had to pick one country to use all my sweet calories in, I know just what it would be.
Head to Norway and the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe!
Norwegian Kringla
Where to Find – Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe (Norway – World Showcase)
While this bakery, found just steps away from the Frozen Ever After ride, offers so many mouth-watering treats, there are two that we must eat during every trip.
The first is the Kringla. Not too sweet, this snack is a pretzel shaped pastry with options of several toppings – cinnamon, chocolate, or my personal favorite, almonds.
School Bread
Where to Find – Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe (Norway – World Showcase)
Our second must-have treat is famously called “School Bread”. The dessert with a sweet surprise inside is a fan favorite. It’s a sweet roll filled with a creamy custard, dipped in coconut. It’s nothing like I’ve ever tasted before. I highly recommend it.
Animal Kingdom Treats
Animal Kingdom is where I have found my new favorite Disney World treat, and it’s right in the heart of Pandora – The World of AVATAR.
Frozen Night Blossom Slushie
Where to Find – Pongu Pongu (inside Pandora – The World of AVATAR)
After you have enjoyed walking around in a world which will leave you mesmerized, be sure to stop by a little kiosk just steps from the gift shop you exit as you walk off the ride, Avatar – Flight of Passage. While you can certainly find some unique alcoholic drinks at this stand, you must order a non-alcoholic Night Blossom slushie.
The frozen drink contains multiple layers of apple and desert pear limeade topped with passion fruit boba balls. I’m not a big fan of the boba balls (don’t like the texture), but this drink is the most refreshing drink I have ever tasted in my life. On a hot and sunny Orlando day, this was perfection. So much so that not only did I enjoy one on my way out of Pandora and onto the next part of the park, but I came back around for a second before we exited the park completely. Yes, it’s that good!
TIP: Take an Instagram-worthy photo with the slushie against the nearby Moss Walls.
Hollywood Studios Treats
Homemade Lunch Box Tarts
Where to Find: Toy Story Land (Woody’s Lunch Box)
While you find yourself walking through Andy’s Backyard, be sure to stop by Woody’s Lunch Box (link to my review with tips above) for an out of this world treat. Homemade Lunch Box Tarts are so cleverly designed, colorful, and tasty! My personal favorite is the one above, a lunch box tart with a lemon filling and blueberry frosting. The perfect add on though is the edible PIXAR Ball! How cute is that? Delicious too, I might add.
TIP: Take an Instagram worthy photo at one of the many awesome Toy Story Land Instagram Walls. Read my post for tips on where to find these. Some are a bit hidden and I’ve actually gotten phone calls from friends who were INSIDE Toy Story Land and could not find them. I helped them out of course.
Blue Bantha
Where to Find: Oga’s Cantina (Batuu – Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge)
No matter what, you have to make a stop at Oga’s Cantina inside the brand new Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. Try the blue milk served chilled with Bantha-inspired vanilla-butter sugar cookie or one of the many snacks and drinks found there. You’ll score bragging rights for being inside Oga’s Cantina for sure!
Disney World Treats Found in All Parks
You’ll find certain iconic Disney World treats just about anywhere you look. Though you’ll have to wait for my follow up to discover some particular treats found outside the parks (resorts, Disney Springs, etc.), you can find many of these sweet and savory snacks both in and outside the parks.
- Mickey Bar (crunchy chocolate outside with a vanilla ice cream center and in the shape of Mickey Mouse of course)
- Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Sandwich
- Churro (cinnamon delicousness)
- Disney themed Candy Apples
- Mickey Mouse Shaped Pretzel
