Not too long ago I found myself listening to a little original movie called Disney Zombies, as it was on the television in the other room, courtesy of my 10-year old daughter. I found myself humming along. I love all things Disney, but zombies? I wasn’t sure…so I had to take a peek, and once I did, I sat and enjoyed the entire movie.
Now, it’s 2020. A couple years have passed and our family was thrilled when Zombies 2 was greenlighted. I’ve got all the updated scoop on Zombies 2 below!
(Thanks to Disney for providing a complimentary copy of the original movie – we had already seen it and knew it needed to be part of our movie library. Affiliate link in post where a commission may be earned at no cost to you for any purchases.)
About the original Disney Zombies…
Disney Zombies is a music- and dance-filled story set in the fictitious world of Seabrook, a cookie-cutter community brimming with perky conformity 50 years after a zombie apocalypse. Today, the zombies pose no threat, but are required to live in Zombietown, an isolated, rundown community infused with their unique creative spirit. When zombies are finally allowed to enroll in Seabrook High School, the charming, charismatic zombie Zed, who is determined to play football, meets freshman Addison who dreams of being a cheerleader — the ultimate form of status in Seabrook. Addison takes a lot of flak for befriending Zed and his zombie friends, but comes to learn that zombies and cheerleaders aren’t so different after all.
About Disney Zombies 2…
Zombies 2 begins after last year’s groundbreaking semester at Seabrook High, as a new group of outsiders—mysterious werewolves—threaten the newfound unity and cause a rift between Zed and Addison.
Set in the newly united town of Seabrook, Zombies 2 resumes the story as cheerleader Addison and zombie football player Zed are readying for Seabrook High’s Prawn, the school’s supersized prom. But when a group of mysterious teenage werewolves, led by Willa, Wyatt and Wynter, unexpectedly arrive in search of an ancient life source buried somewhere in Seabrook, a fearful city council reenacts Seabrook’s anti-monster laws making it impossible for Zed and Addison to attend Prawn together.
Determined to keep their plan to be the first zombie/cheerleader couple to go to the prom, Zed runs for school president against cheer captain, Bucky, in order to change the rules. While Zed launches into his campaign, Addison is drawn into the werewolves circle sensing this might be where she finally fits in. Fearing he might lose Addison to the werewolf pack, Zed sabotages Addison’s effort to find out if she really belongs amongst them. When his deception is revealed and Addison confronts the truth about her identity, zombies, cheerleaders and werewolves all discover the real meaning of community and acceptance.
The roles of three teen werewolves (siblings Willa and Wyatt and their packmate Wynter) have been cast for the movie sequel.

Top Things We Love About Disney Zombies
Featuring Milo Manheim as Zed; Meg Donnelly as Addison; Trevor Tordjman as Bucky; Kylee Russell as Eliza; Carla Jeffery as Bree; Kingston Foster as Zoey; and James Godfrey as Bonzo. This cast is incredible and though there are zombies, they aren’t the scary kind, trust me! I don’t do scary.
In a time when we work hard to teach our children about inclusion (a message that many adults need to hear also), Disney Zombies is a fun reminder of this all to important lesson. Zed and Addison work together to show Seabrook what they can achieve when they embrace their differences and celebrate what makes them a community. Whether “zombie” or “normal”, they can not only be friends, but learn to value each other.
As if the cast and the message wasn’t already good enough, it was the music which sold me. I was tapping my feet and truth be told, my daughter has caught me listening to the original soundtrack more times than I can count. Now you can sample and order the sequel soundtrack now!
Disney Zombies follows the huge successes of other musical hits from Disney including High School Musical and Descendants.
