There’s always something I’ve wanted to do. To recreate at home. I’m betting you’ve always wanted to try it too. What am I talking about? Let’s make an Easy Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie!
You’ve seen them in restaurants. You’ve admired the aromas of the chocolate melting inside that cast iron skillet as the server walks by your table. So let’s do it ourselves – it couldn’t be easier. Why? It’s holiday time so I like to take a few shortcuts that helps me save time and money. We’ll be making one in no time with the help of my favorite baker, Betty Crocker!
HOLIDAY TIME FUN – Have you seen all the Betty Crocker Cookie Mix Holiday Varieties? I’m in LOVE!
Let’s face it, we need the holidays to be as stress free as possible, yet we want to impress our family and friends. You can easily do just that with this fabulous (did I mention quick and easy?) dessert.
Just keep several of these Betty Crocker Cookie Mix varieties (holiday ones too) on hand in your pantry and you can have an easy skillet chocolate chip cookie within minutes! Great for unexpected visitors or guests or even a last minute play date!
Easy Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie
6 servings (or less, depending on your cravings)
Ingredients
- 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix
- Butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch (varies depending on mix purchased)
- (Optional) 1 pint vanilla ice cream
Directions
Heat oven to 350°F.
Spray 10-inch ovenproof skillet with cooking spray.
TIP: I like to use a Avocado Oil Cooking Spray.
In a medium bowl, stir Betty Crocker Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix, butter and egg until a soft dough forms.
Spread dough evenly in skillet. Press to flatten and cover bottom of skillet.
Bake about 25 minutes or until the edges are light golden brown.
IMPORTANT: Do not overbake as cookie will continue to cook in skillet once out of oven.
Cool for 5 minutes on cooling rack
Cut in approximately 6 sections as you would a pie.
Serve warm because any other way just won’t do.
OPTIONAL: Add a scoop of ice cream on top right before serving. Mmmmm!
TIP: You can use smaller cast-iron skillet. This recipe would fill two 6-inch skillets. If you do use a smaller skillet, you might need to adjust the baking time down a bit. Bake 16-18 minutes or until done.
So tell me, which is your favorite Betty Crocker Cookie Mix Holiday Variety? Why not try making a skillet cookie out of it?

Alright, you sold me. We need to get a skillet to try this. The funny thing is TechyDad and I were looking at them today while we were shopping. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
We actually took a skillet cooking class a few weeks ago for date night! The entire meal was made using different skillets! I need to recreate it! I wish I had my mom’s old cast iron skillet, but alas I have to settle for breaking my own in. I highly recommend Lodge brand, you can find them just about anywhere, even Target I believe. At first glance I thought you were baking the cookie on the stove top. We have a cast iron that we use all the time, and thisis a good recipe for dessert.
Ha! Thanks David – what are your favorite cast iron recipes?
