I never had the chance to be a flower girl. We didn’t have a small family by any means. My mom had two siblings and my dad had three. But, my dad was the last to get married, and by the time my mom’s brother got married, I was a teenager……hardly a flower girl any more. I had “guest book” duty. 🙂
I always wanted to be a flower girl. My 4 yr old hasn’t yet been to a wedding. Her aunts and uncles are already married. Even most of her cousins are already married. She, like her mama, just may never get the chance. She’d be a beautiful flower girl for sure.
I have found the most ideal book series for girls……both a picture book and chapter books. I’m talking about the new series Flower Girl World, written by Lynelle Woolley and illustrated by Karen Wolcott.
Whether you’re a Bride looking for the perfect gift for your flower girl, or a parent whose little girl loves anything to do with weddings (or really just likes books about girls her age), you’ll want to check out this series.
Camellia the Fabulous Flower Girl is a 32-page picture book (Hardcover) geared towards girls ages 4 and up.
Camellia, the main character, has always wanted to be a flower girl…..and she finally gets the chance when her aunt is getting married. Her excitement soon dwindles as she learns she won’t be the only flower girl. Even the day of the wedding, Camellia can’t seem to get in a good mood. She then meets the other two flower girls, Poppy (a cowgirl) and Willow (a fashion model wannabe). They are all so very different, and they all have different ideas of how they should go down the aisle. They learn about friendship and have lots of fun.
This delightful story would be an especially fun gift to any flower girl, who may not completely understand her role in the wedding. I’d just make sure she knows not to necessary dance down the aisle. 🙂
Be on the lookout too for the new chapter book, “Rosie and the Wedding Day Rescue”. This 73 page book is priced at just $4.99 and once again brings three flower girls together, who don’t know each other, for a special wedding. We meet Rosie, Iris, and Starr, who must work together when the wedding starts to fall apart.
It looks like the author has many more book ideas…..as “there are so many different wedding customs and locations to explore”. A sneak peek shows “Iris and the Aloha Wedding Adventure” and “Starr and the High Seas Wedding Drama”. I can’t wait until my daughter gets into chapter books…….I think she’ll love this series.
BUY: All books available at Flower Girl World and you can also find Camellia the Fabulous Flower Girl on Amazon.
Now for some extra fun for my readers….

My daughter was a flower girl in my cousins wedding – along with my niece that is the same age. They were so cute in their ‘princess’ dresses.
My daughter was a flower girl.
No, never a flower girl!
My brother’s little girl, Justine was a flower girl at her Aunt’s (my sister’s only child) wedding. She was so lovely with wild flowers in her hair. It was an out-door Summer wedding in a beautiful garden. She walked down the long, long stone steps all by herself. I think she was a few months away from age 4. Now that my son is getting married she may (at age 11) get to do it again. My little grand daughter will be the same age and she has already been asked to be a flower girl. They will be so cute together. Karen, I love your illustrations and I hope that I am chosen to win this book–(or I will buy it.)
