This time of year, there’s nothing better than thinking of others and doing good deeds. I’m excited to share with you an easy way we can make a difference, and it involves a little character not always known for his generous heart…The Grinch! #GrowYourHeart
Then the Grinch thought of something
he hadn’t before!
“Maybe Christmas,” he thought,
“doesn’t come from a store.
Maybe Christmas…perhaps…
means a little bit more!”
This year Random House Children’s Books and Dr. Seuss Enterprises have partnered with Feeding America®, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief charity, to fight hunger across the country in honor of the fifth annual “Grinch-Mas Grow Your Heart” program.
Inspired by the message from Dr. Seuss’s classic HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS!, “Grinch-mas” is a time of year that encourages kids and adults alike to read the book and do simple good deeds to “grow their hearts three sizes,” just as the Grinch does at the end of the story. This year, the program will give families a special opportunity to help feed the hungry in our nation.
How Can You #GrowYourHeart Three Sizes?
For every person who shares a good deed on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with #GrowYourHeart, Random House Children’s Books and Dr. Seuss Enterprises will collectively donate $1 (up to $20,000) to Feeding America.
- Good deed posts must be shared by December 25, 2017, in order to be eligible.
- One entry per person, per platform, per day.
It couldn’t be easier. A simple social media share and they’ll donate!
NOTE: Feeding America is the nationwide network of 200 food banks that leads the fight against hunger in the United States. They provide food to more than 46 million people through 60,000 food pantries and meal programs in communities across America.
Keep an eye on the Grinch’s ever-growing Heart-o-Meter at GrinchGoodDeeds.com! Share your own good deeds and help #GrowYourHeart this holiday season!
To get everyone excited about this initiative and encourage you to share a good deed yourself to benefit others, I’m having a giveaway!

I’m notorious on Facebook for changing my profile to feature the Grinch. I’m not against Christmas, just the commercialization. My kids don’t need the biggest, newest, or best toys to prove that I love them. Christmas should be about spending time with your family and for celebrating kindness and generosity, not shopping and going into debt to buy presents.
