Hallmark’s Moments & Milestones – Treasures! (Giveaway) – CLOSED

Hallmark. It’s a brand we all know. It’s a brand who has helped us with just the right words, at just the right time. Am I the only one who can stand in the card aisle for hours?

This year, Hallmark has been celebrating “Moments and Milestones”……which is particularly about “finding the right words to tell loved ones the things they need to hear in the big and little moments that make life special”.

I’ve learned the hard way how short life is. Having lost my mom so unexpectedly, I realize that sometimes I just want to hear her voice….need to hear the words she would tell me.

That’s why I’m so grateful that I kept EVERY single card that she ever gave me from birth on. Can you believe it? I always had a box in my closet growing up. It held cards I’d received from anyone and everyone. But it’s the ones from my mom which I treasure most. In those words, I hear her voice. Hear her whispering to me “Happy Birthday”. Hear how proud she is of me. Okay, I’m crying now.

That’s why I was so excited to be a part of the “Moments and Milestones” tour this year.  Hallmark has 6 cities on the map, and Dallas was one.  However, the morning of the event I had to cancel as mommy was needed.  But you can bet I watched the Twitter stream.  Had I been there, I would have needed a tissue.  Actually, more than one.

You see, Hallmark knows just the right words….they always have.  They created a special video for the bloggers, one which featured photos, videos, and written words.  One that captured emotions.  My photo was there……..it was one of my mom and I.  A picture of my 3rd birthday….with my mom.  Hello tears.

Thank you Hallmark, for helping us remember that we need to tell our loved ones how much they mean to us.

  • Christopher Interactive Story Buddy: Interactive Story Buddies are plush animals that serve as a great story time companion for kids. When a parent and child read the story aloud, the Interactive Story Buddy responds, saying key phrases from the corresponding Storybook.

I just recently learned all about the Interactive Story Buddy, and was amazed at the technology.  It’s so sweet when your stuffed animal “buddy” responds to you reading. I’m going to let you in on a little secret…….there are Holiday Interactive Story Buddies too (and they can even interact with a television program).  More on that in another post!  🙂

  • Text Bands: Text Bands are a cool, fun, brand-new way kids can communicate with their friends.

We had some “cousins” fun the other day with Text Bands.  The concept is simple….kids type in messages like Hi or LOL and then can “Fist Bump” or “High Five” each other.  Magically, the messages are traded.  This was fun for the kids, especially my 2nd grade nephew.  My daughter is just learning sight words, so it was a bit of a challenge, but she had fun with her cousin!

  48. There are so many ways to show the ones I love that how much I care about them. One of the ways that I really like is listen and try to help them out when they need!

  97. I make sure to give them hugs and kisses and tell them “I love you” everyday. I also make sure to reward them when they do well at school etc.

  103. One way I show the people in my life that I care is by leaving handwritten notes. I try to include a note in my kids school lunches with a silly joke on it. My 8th grader still gets bummed when I forget the note 🙂

  130. I make a small Shutterfly album of each child’s highlights of the year, and leave it wrapped at the foot of their beds after they go to sleep on Christmas Eve. It’s a good reminder of special times for them.

  145. I show them by saying it of course, but also put little notes and small gifts around the house, I lay out items, like clothes, toothbrushes/paste. Cook special meals. Send mail to the little one so she feels important. When I go on trips, I hide little gifts around the house and give her a clue each afternoon when we talk and she loves it. Just any little thing goes a long way in showing your love for your family.

  150. I always make sure that I am available to any friends or family who may need my help, or need me for a shoulder to lean on. I tell my kids and husband how much I love them multiple times a day:) I just try to be there for the ones I love!

  166. I send people cards in the real mail especially for birthdays. I also include a scratch off lottery ticket too. Once my folks won $500 from one I sent them. Yay!   169. The ones in my life know that I care because I help them out in any way that I can. I give back to the community also so my caring extends to total stranges by running an annual food drive for veterans and their families, an adopt a family program for the children of veterans and needy children in the community, and bringing programs to the children of my son’s school by running the PTA.

  389. I shower my little guy with hugs and kisses and tell him I love him a billion times a day! (He’s only 9 months) And I try to do sweet things to surprise my husband, to show him I care, love, and appreciate him.

  410. I show my loved ones that I care by sending them things that I wish I had! My mother in law sends me jewelry and I send it right to my sister with 3 babies. When I spend money on them, it is always a bunch but I know that if I could bring a smile to their faces, it is all that matters.
