My daughter is upstairs picking out her most fashionable outfits. At only “almost-7” years old, she already knows the value of an invitation to Los Angeles. She knew right away when Mommy started squealing with excitement that this would be an event NOT TO MISS. So, she’s upstairs packing.
Truth be told, while I do foresee another blogger in the household’s future and know that Disney, Marvel, DreamWorks and ABC Family would be lucky to have her smiling face on the trip…..this one’s not for kids.
Mommy definitely needs to start picking out her outfits because as part of this #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy Event, I’ll be attending the press junket for the new highly anticipated Marvel film, “Guardians of the Galaxy”!
Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” finds space adventurer Peter Quill the object of a bounty hunt after stealing an orb coveted by a treacherous villain, but when Quill discovers the power it holds, he must find a way to rally the quartet of ragtag rivals hot on his trail to save the universe.
Ooooh, and not only will we get a chance to view the movie early (releases August 1st), we’ll be interviewing cast and filmmakers. While that part of the itinerary hasn’t been detailed out yet, can we just talk about WHO is in the cast?
Meet the Cast:
- Chris Pratt
- Zoe Saldana
- Dave Bautista
- Vin Diesel
- Bradley Cooper
- Glenn Close
- Benicio Del Toro and many, many more!
The sheer opportunity to interview ANY of these amazing actors is thrilling. And it’s been mentioned to me on more than one occasion that the leading men in this film are not too shabby to look at. Point taken. 🙂
From action to romance and food…….
During the event, I’ll be introduced to “THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY” (opening in theatres on 8/8) with a special advance screening and interview with actor Manish Dayal.
This film is based on the best-selling novel and in addition to outstanding actress Helen Mirren, has some amazing producers! Inspired by the movie, a cooking lesson that will be out of this world has been set up for us bloggers. I’ve already written an entire second post about it!
I’ve just so much to tell you already and I’m only 16 days out from stepping onto California soil. More later!!!!
UPDATE: We’ve discovered we will be heading to the world-famous Le Cordon Bleu for a cooking lesson! Check out my Le Cordon Bleu Announcement and more
First action, then romance and food, now onto comedy and animation! I tell ya, there’s something for everyone!
If there is one actress I just really love and can relate to, it’s Jennifer Garner! So, I’m beyond excited that we’ll be attending an early advance screening of ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY (opening in theatres on 10/10). With Jennifer Garner and Steve Carell (oh, so hilarious), I can just imagine how much I’ll be laughing! Just looking at the movie poster cracks me up!
And then………for those of you who know me well, you know it’s this next movie on the itinerary that will have me on the edge of my seat.
I’m a fan of all things animated. If it’s a Disney animated movie, chances are I own it (though it might still be the original VHS – LOL!).
If I’m at a Disney theme park, chances are you’ll find me in the Animation Academy. See?
So I’ll be in heaven when we get to preview footage from the upcoming Walt Disney Studios animated movie BIG HERO 6 (opening in theatres on 11/7)! That will also include a Q&A segment with the filmmakers. I’ve seen the previews and LOVE them!
But that’s not all. It’s not just about movies……let’s turn to television!
I can’t help myself.
I’m humming the theme song to Beverly Hills 90210.
I am old enough to have watched it from the very beginning……aren’t you? 🙂
Well, Donna Martin….I mean Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth, former co-stars, friends and moms in real life, join forces again in the new ABC Family TV show MYSTERY GIRLS (series premiere last week on Wednesday, 6/25 at 8:30pm/7:30c)! Did you watch it?
I’ll be touring the set and meeting Tori and Jennie! Can I call them by their first names? 🙂
Another new TV show, YOUNG & HUNGRY starring Emily Osment (series premiere last week on Wednesday, 6/25 at 8:00pm/7:00c) will be part of this event too – more details to come!
Whew! And that is just a snippet!
Be sure to follow along as I join 24 other fabulous bloggers on this trek to L.A. for the #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyEvent, #100FootJourneyEvent and #ABCFamilyEvent!

This is so awesome!! We’ve been waiting for the Guardians of the Galaxy movie to come out… I’ve gotten caught up with a few of the cartoon and can’t wait to see Disney’s take on this Marvel classic. It sounds like you’re going to have so much fun!!
How fun! As a family we’re really looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy it looks like it will be as great as the other Marvel movies have been. And our daughter is giddy with excitement over Big Hero 6 – both the cinematic process and the story line since that one is right up her hobbies and future career plans!
This trip looks ammmmmmmazing! I can’t wait to hear what you think after you’ve seen all of the screenings for the movies. It sounds like a star-studded, fast-paced trip! Gosh, what does one wear to meet all of the celebrities!?
The animation studios would be a fun visit for sure.
Does your family ever send you with special requests as far as goodies to come home with? Souvenirs were always my favorite part of my dad coming back when he’d go on trips. 😉 (What’d ya bring me?!)
You’re going to have so much fun!
I hadn’t thought of souvenirs yet Jenn…..she really doesn’t ask for any, but I do remember my Dad bringing some home from trips. Thanks for the tip!!!
OMGoodness!!! Super exciting! So happy you’ve been giving this opportunity!
So excited for you! Can’t wait to follow along!
