June isn’t even here yet, and adults and parents everywhere are already on board with Incredibles 2. Not only are they on board with the much anticipated Disney*Pixar sequel, but I’m not sure who is more excited – kids or adults! The new trailer, just released (and below for your viewing pleasure), only adds to that excitement.
It’s been 14 years since the original release of The Incredibles. In that time, many of those kids who saw it in theaters, have grown up to have families of their own. This film isn’t necessarily for their kids, it’s for them! But it’s not just the millennial parents who can’t wait for June 15th.
Incredibles 2 appeals to Parents!
In INCREDIBLES 2, Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
Mom Takes the Lead
I don’t know about you, but the image above of Helen on that motorcycle (I’m sorry, it’s actually called an Elasticycle, a state of the art cycle made just for her) has me screaming OH YEAH! Go Elastigirl!
I’m cheering her on:
As a woman who spent years in a male-dominated career.
As a mom who gave it all up to stay home to raise my daughter.
As a supermom who found a way to have it all, enjoying a career a second time around after motherhood, with a supportive husband who helps make it all work.
Dad Holds Down the Fort
Bob is in charge of day to day life, as adventurous as that is, for the household while mom is off being INCREDIBLE!
This narrative is one I adore. It’s one that I want children to see. Girls. Boys.
I can only imagine the laughs we’ll have just based off the trailers so far.
Can I Say Common Core Math?
This week’s new trailer had me dying when common core math made an appearance that none of us expected, but all of us can relate to!
Bob is trying to help Dash with his math homework, and well, you just have to watch it below. That scene looks REALLY familiar! 🙂
Disney*Pixar – you scored major points!
The poster this week shows us a brand new villain in the Incredibles universe…and it makes an appearance in the trailer below.
Drum Roll please…
So what do you think? Do you think INCREDIBLES 2 appeals to parents?
