The first cold front hit Dallas and we quickly realized something. My daughter had outgrown everything. Pants were inches and inches shorter. Long-sleeve shirts were unbelievably small. It was clear we had a lot of shopping to do. Because of the sheer amount of clothes we needed, it was time to finally step foot in a store I had passed by a million times – Kid to Kid. I’m so thankful to Kid to Kid for sponsoring this post.
What is Kid to Kid?
Kid to Kid is a franchise of stores, many locally and independently-owned, which buys and sells discounted kids clothing.
It is here where you can shop designer brands for 70% less and sell the things your kids have outgrown!
Located in 4 different countries, you’ll find also find Kid to Kid stores in more than 20 U.S. states, including Texas!
My first visit to a Kid to Kid store was a huge success.
I sold clothing that we had outgrown.
I bought 15 items of clothing, including this beautiful long brown with lace top that went perfectly with her new winter boots! I told you it was a successful shopping trip.
Selling Used Items at Kid to Kid
I learned that while each store can differ a tiny bit, the core basics are the same.
Items You Can Sell
- Gently used kid clothing (Sizes 0-14) and outerwear
- Shoes and Boots
- Gently used maternity clothing
- Sports Gear
- Dance Items
- Baby Gear and Nursery Furniture
- Children’s Books/Dvds (at least at the Kid to Kid Plano location I visited)
**Some stores carry girls’ juniors sizes and up to size 20 in boys.
Bring items to your local store (making sure that clothing is laundered), and drop them off with a store employee at the front desk. You will be asked to fill out a form similar to that above.
Now is the time that they will review your items, making sure there are no holes, stains, or even recalls.
They will also appraise the items.
This entire process took only about 15 minutes or so, and this was time I used to start shopping.
The Offer: They will provide you with an offer of what they are willing to purchase and for what price. You can accept or refuse, but I found two incredible options that I must tell you about.
Tip #1 – They can pay you CASH or receive 20% more than that amount in store credit.
Tip #2 – If you purchase something the same day you sell an item, you receive an extra 10% off your purchase!
Combining these two tips, I was able to save even more from the already great low prices.
Tip #3 – If they aren’t willing to buy everything (I had two items they didn’t want), many stores will offer to donate the items so you don’t have to take them back home.
Buying Used Items at Kid to Kid
I visited the Kid to Kid Plano location, but there were so many locations in our Dallas/Fort Worth area to choose from. In fact, I have heard that the Arlington location is HUGE (so I’ll be planning a trip there in the Spring for sure).
I was so pleasantly surprised by what I found available to purchase.
So many shoes, boots, and even winter snow boots were available. A large selection of winter coats and jackets were right up front (they knew we were coming it seemed)! 🙂 In fact, we found and purchased a beautiful suede long winter coat for my daughter. Simply stunning and only $16.99!
There were books, DVDs, infant toys and toys for kids of all ages from some of the best brands around like Melissa and Doug and Calico Critters.
We were there for winter clothes though, and we found a great selection, like this turquoise long sleeved shirt ($5.99) with matching jean jacket ($8.99).
The prices were amazing. Steals! I couldn’t pass up so many simple long-sleeve shirts just for school.
But there was more…
Yes, I stocked up on winter shirts, a coat, and a jacket, but I bought a few dresses too. I couldn’t help myself at these prices. So many items for under $5.
A gorgeous green, navy, and black holiday dress was spotted for Christmas. Then there was the navy sleeveless dress with pink tulle for her cousin’s wedding.
Let’s not forget some Spring items I found so we could be ready come March for warmer weather. I grabbed a short-sleeved Tea Collection dress and a beautiful sleeveless simple navy and white Matilda Jane dress.
And did I mention the brand new hair bows (not used, but new and in every color and pattern imaginable)? It seems that each store handpicks a few new items to sell based on their location. Love it! This is the place to find your bows!
So many deals. So little time.
What are you waiting for?
Kid to Kid is your one stop shop this holiday season and beyond!
Here are just a few of the Dallas/Ft Worth locations, but you can find a store near you (remember, they are in over 20 states):
