Ever since my trip to Sesame Street, I feel like these furry little monsters really are my friends. Fortunately my two-year old doesn’t get tired of me pulling out my old Sesame Street playset from the 1970’s! But now, I’ve got a brand new Sesame Street toy to share with her (one from this century).
K’NEX Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection consists of four individual sets that are made to work together or alone. They are the latest of the K’NEX Sesame Street products, which include:
123 Brownstone Building Set (w/Elmo & Cookie Monster)
Ice Cream Truck Building Set
Police Station Building Set (w/Elmo & Ernie)
Police Car Building Set
Ice Cream Truck Building Set: I didn’t know which K’NEX item I’d be receiving, so I was surprised when it was ELMO!! Elmo’s one of our best friends in this house. This set comes with a buildable Elmo, playing the role of the ice cream man, of course. Too cute.
The set consists of 18 pieces, most of which are fairly big. While you can use all 18 pieces to make Elmo in his ice cream truck, it’s easily modified so a child can just create and use their imagination…….multiple ideas are provided on the box. Four wheels are even included to make the truck more fun to play with after children are done building. Geared towards children ages 2-5, this is one toy that can bring hours and hours of fun.
While Sesame Street Building Sets are all about FUN to kids, as parents, we know that these toys encourage imagination and creativity, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Problem solving? Oh yes, you see I tried the toy out first. I had all the parts and started building the ice cream truck just like on the box. But….I was left with one EXTRA piece. I had to sit there and figure out where it was supposed to go. It was actually pretty funny!
This is our first toy with lots of pieces, so I am going to have to find a special container to keep them in (so that we don’t lose any).
