Bound to be one of the hottest toys this Christmas, these dolls are already having a hard time staying on the shelves.  I’m talking about the new dolls for ages  4 to 104……..Lalaloopsy Dolls.

Eight different dolls with very different personalities. They’ve taken on the personalities of the fabrics that were used to make them. Let me introduce you:

Pillow Featherbed: Made from pieces of a baby’s blanket.  She loves good stories, long naps, and her favorite snack is milk and cookies. She has a pet sheep.

Mittens Fluff N’ Stuff: Made from pieces of an Eskimo’s scarf. She loves hot cocoa, snow fights, and snuggling by the fire.  She has a pet polar bear.

Peanut Big Top: Made from bits of a brightly colored clown costume.  She is a silly prankster who’s a little bit clumsy and loves to make her friends laugh.  She has a pet elephant.

Spot Splatter Splash: Made from painter’s overalls.  She’s super-creative and loves bright colors, and eating spaghetti.  She has a pet zebra.

Jewel Sparkles: Made from remnants of a real Princess’ dress. She is very graceful, a little bit bossy, and loves to dance and wear sparkly clothes. She has a Persian cat.

Dot Starlight: Made from a real astronauts space suit. She’s a dreamer who loves science, and she’s always got her head in the clouds. She has a pet bird.

Bea Spells-a-Lot: Made from a school girl’s uniform. She is a real smartypants, who always follows the rules and loves to talk A LOT.  She has a pet owl.

Crumb Sugar Cookie:  Made from the pieces of a baking apron.  She’s super-sweet, has perfect manners, and loves inviting friends over for tea and treats. She has a pet mouse. Sewn on Date: Dec 4th (National Cookie Day)

Crumb Sugar Cookie was a special surprise this week for a little girl I know who worked so hard. Crumb Sugar Cookie and her pet mouse were waiting when my daughter woke up….and she was thrilled!  She called for me right away with such excitement in her voice,  “Mama, I have something to show you”.  She’s played with her everyday since.

Clever….that’s what I have to say about the packaging. It comes with the most adorable handle (plastic made to look like buttons and yarn). Also attached on the outside is a tag with their sewn date, the item they were sewn from, and their personality. That’s so clever, so that parents/grandparents can try to make a good match for a child. It’s bright, colorful, and you can see everything you are getting, right down to the pet animal that comes with each doll. FYI…there is a poster of the doll that is on the inside. The packaging is so adorable, that there’s really no need to wrap it.

Mommy Confession: I might be having just as much fun playing as my daughter is. These dolls are just precious….they’ve got personality, they’re not your run of the mill baby doll. The legs move quite freely and over-sized head can bobble in all directions. The hair surprisingly is a hard plastic, not made out of yarn…which is probably good for durability. The eyes are beautiful buttons and as my daughter quickly pointed out, they have no nose. 🙂 Half the fun of course is dress up…and as you can see, our doll has been so busy playing that she needed a bath. Fortunately, I’ve found that they sell Lalaloopsy Fashion Packs for extra fun (fun raincoats and everything). The clothes are all quite “hip” and fashionable, right down to the boots.

I love these dolls, and if I had one waiting under the Christmas tree for me, I’d be smiling!

  777. I think these dolls are precious and the message behind them is even greater. I especially love the smarty pants one, alot of kids get teased for being good in school, I think it is great there is a doll to reinforce and represent all our little nerdy girls.
