It’s the busiest time of year. Back to school.
Well, in my house the 2nd month of school actually is even busier. New routines have been established, but school tests and mandatory after-school events have flooded my calendar. This mom is swamped. That said, my daughter still wants me to make her lunch almost every day, which can be tiring for me, so today I’m sharing some new discoveries. I’m talking new products that will make your life and mine much easier – lunchbox tips for busy moms!
Lunchbox Tips for Busy Moms
Save Time By Ordering Your Groceries & Having Them Delivered
Grocery delivery. Game changer. Seriously.
I know that ordering your groceries online has been a reality for many parents for some time now. It’s just not something I ever really thought about or took advantage of. I have friends who order online and then go wait outside the grocery store in a designated spot while an employee brings them out to load your car. BUT, I discovered one better.
I just ordered my groceries online and had them delivered to my house within 2 hours.
Who is this for? Everyone, but let me think of a few extra special people who definitely need this…
- For the mom of a newborn
- For the parent out of food but the kids are napping
- For the mom with a broken foot (oh, I could have used this three years ago when that happened to me).
- For the single adult who has their car in the shop.
- For the elderly man not able to walk without difficulty
- For the mom sick with the flu.
- For the dad who has kids sick with the flu.
- For the blogger who has a gazillion deadlines (yep, that’s me)!
The list goes on and on and on…
Consider SHIPT
I used Shipt this past week and it was such a time saver. It was an evening where my daughter had homework from the time she got home to the time she went to bed. I realized that I was out (or nearly out) of some basic staples needed for breakfast and more importantly, for her school lunch.
Enter Shipt.
While she was doing her homework, and I was doing laundry and making dinner, a Shipt shopper named Tara was shopping at my local Kroger. For me.
I had my concerns. After all, when I was sharing what I was about to do with my grandmother, she said she would worry about fresh foods. Would the shopper look at expiration dates? Would the produce picked be best?
So, I challenged my shopper. I ordered all kinds of fresh staples, from milk and celery to bell peppers. And from boxed items to breakable fresh organic eggs.
This was all done online (and they have an incredible app too if you want Shipt access easily on your phone). From my address, Shipt told me which grocery stores (for me, that included a Target) I could shop at. I then shopped and placed my order online. I could pick a delivery window even later than I expected. Same day delivery.
How did my Shipt shopper do?
Amazing! She made my experience beyond wonderful, and I will use their service again. She went above and beyond by texting me when an item was not in stock and giving me additional options to choose. She was timely. She showed up on my doorstep with items that needed refrigeration in a special container. Tara was the best!
After saying goodbye, I inspected all the items, then immediately called to share with my grandma. Not a single egg broken. The fresh produce looked amazing. And the milk expiration date was a long way off.
I love Shipt! You will too!
It couldn’t be easier to use. Sign up for a 1-year membership (for $49) and get access to free, unlimited delivery on orders of more than $35. An order under $35 just requires a small extra fee, but who shops for less than $35?
Discover Healthier for Them Options
Especially after a few weeks of school, my daughter can start complaining about the same old lunch options day after day. Can you relate?
This year, I’ve tried to switch things up a bit. Find new options.
Consider Made Good
We recently discovered Made Good organic snacks. These snacks have passed the tween deliciousness test, and that says a lot.
Here’s what moms and dads will love about these snacks:
- Made Good snacks are organic, gluten-free and non-GMO project verified.
- Made Good snacks are school safe, made without the 8 common allergens like peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, dairy, soy, sesame, fish and shellfish. For those of us in schools where those items are not allowed, this is super helpful.
Best of all, they taste great, are individually packaged, and are easy to throw in the lunch box (or have stocked in the pantry for after-school snacks).
From granola bars and granola minis to crispy squares and soft baked cookies, these healthier for you treats will be a big hit with the kids.

Plan Meals with Leftovers in Mind
This is something I’ve gotten in the habit of doing lately.
Though my child isn’t always a fan of leftovers, if they are well thought out favorites that she loves, they really do help with my planning.
Dinner one night. Lunches (for me at home and her at school) the next.
Consider Lundberg
I was introducted to Lundberg Organic Rice & Seasoning Mixes and my daughter fell in love.
She doesn’t normally eat a lot of rice. Normally. But with the Lundberg Rice Pilaf I made this past week, she devoured it. The difference I think was in the added olive oil you can put in while making. I noticed that option on the box and what a difference it made. The creamiest rice ever.
Lundberg is made with quality ingredients. Think organic white rice or organic America-grown quinoa.
Surprisingly, I discovered the products were gluten-free, which I know many will appreciate.
The creamy rice pilaf is a new favorite side dish in our family for dinner, and yes, as part of a nutritious school lunch the next day.
Win. Win. You’ll want to check Lundberg out!
Consider Eat Pre
When we think protein in our family, I have to admit our favorite is beef. We are Texans after all.
What I just discovered is a game changer for me – grass fed beef available for delivery. I’m talking about Eat Pre.
All Pre beef is grass fed and you can be sure there are no added antibiotics or added hormones. What I love is that the steaks are individually packaged, and the packages are vacuum sealed and clear (so you can see around the entire piece of beef – yes 360 degrees – the steak lifts up off the cardboard outer package).
I received a refrigerated package on my doorstep featuring: Chuck Roast (beef shoulder), 85% Lean Ground Beef, 95% Lean Ground Beef, Top Sirloin steak, and New York Strip steak.
Delicious, flavorful, and so easy to order and have delivered. Again, saving me time!
HURRY! DEAL – 2 discounts for Back To School 2018:
- Use code BTS40 at www.eatpre.com for 40% off 85 and 80 lean ground beef. Code expires 9/21 (can use in addition to second code below)
- Use code FINDINGDEBRA to receive 10% off your order now through October.
Here’s hoping these lunchbox tips make things a bit easier (and saves you time) this school year!
Grocery delivery really IS a lifesaver!! I spend so much less money that way! I’ve never seen those granola bites but they look delicious.
