I know many bloggers will have a “Happy Mother’s Day” post for their readers today. While I was getting ready to do a quick “Happy Mother’s Day” post myself, I realized that mine should be different.
After all, Mother’s Day isn’t always so happy.
There are many who want to become a mother so badly, but can’t. There are others who have been hurt in unimaginable ways by their mothers and the day is just another reminder. There are those mothers who have lost a child. Then there are those, like me, who have lost their mom.
For me, it will always be a bittersweet day. I’m blessed beyond belief with an amazing little girl, who with the help of her Daddy will make the day special and joyful. I’m truly blessed. But today, my heart will be a little heavier. I’ll look at the little girl named after her grandmother and wonder. Wonder what Mother’s Day would have been like with both a mother and a daughter to share it with. There will come a point during Brunch where I’ll just have a far off look….happens every year. My husband knows….he doesn’t have to ask.
So, this Mother’s Day, while I do wish each of you joy and happiness, I send out a special prayer and hug to those of you for whom this day is difficult. I wish you comfort…..even if it comes from a good movie and buttered popcorn while curled up on the couch. 🙂
