(I paid a modest fee to attend the 2014 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, which included a room at the Disneyland Hotel, park tickets and extraordinary events, parties, and perks. There was no requirement to blog about Disney, the conference or the events. All opinions are my own.)
There we were.
Maleficent and I.
She said, “What should I call you?”
Really? Who says that?
But Maleficent did.
Thus began my run-in with Maleficent at Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.
It wouldn’t be my only run-in with her. In fact, she practically flew right past me after an unexpected and extraordinary entrance the next day.
She interrupted, quite abruptly I might add, a birthday celebration. Mickey Mouse and the rest of us were celebrating THE Elle Fanning’s 16th birthday. Yes, Elle Fanning visited with all of us during a special family event. Ironically, Elle Fanning plays Aurora in the new Disney film, “Maleficent”, who as we all know is cursed and the “16th birthday” plays a big role in that.
Mickey brought out special cupcakes for all of us to celebrate!
But this is where it got really interesting. While we were all focused on Elle Fanning, Maleficent herself snuck up on us and made an appearance from behind. Thank goodness I had my video ready!
Oh, did she give some of the kids a surprise! The look on their faces was priceless!
I loved all the special Maleficent surprises there were throughout the week, and perhaps my favorite of all was the 9-Minute sneak peek of Maleficent the movie.
I certainly cannot wait for it to be in theaters……this weekend, Friday, May 30th!
“Maleficent” explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty” and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.
Will you be there?
I can’t wait to see this one!!
Those cupcakes do look amazing. I am glad you had such a great time. I have never been to Disney but cannot wait to visit!
What an awesome experience!! Totally in love with the photo of you and the mighty Maleficent! NY and I have a date to see the film on Monday. After the weekend crowds and early matinee however … I’m wondering if we should go when the grands get out of school. Hmmm…..
Can’t wait to see this movie. I love Disney! They do such a good job of everything.

I attended a screening tonight and was so impressed with Walt Disney Pictures! The did a great job on this film. I highly recommend it for older kids but would suggest careful consideration for those under 11. Personally, I LOVED it!

Sounds neat, and Elle Fanning is the cutest!
