It’s time for a roundup – New Halloween Books for Kids 2013!
Where’s Boo? (A Hide-and-Seek Book) is an adorable board book for young children, especially so because of the velvety feel of the black cat on the cover (and last page).
It’s a hide-and-seek book, a bit different from the usual lift-the-flap books I’m used to. On each page, the photo clues make you guess what is on the next page, all while trying to find the cat (aka, Boo). Kids will love it. My 6 yr old does too – plus it’s great for early readers. Simple sentences and words.
Hedgehug’s Halloween – Hedgehug the hedgehog has a huge problem. He completely forgot about the biggest party in the forest and it’s almost go time. It’s for Halloween and he has no costume. With the help of his forest friends, he tries to find the perfect last minute costume. No worries…….I think he’ll make it in time. 🙂 For ages 4-8
Lulu Goes to Witch School (I Can Read Book 2) A great book for readers at 48 pages, this one will entertain kids in elementary school. What looks like a traditional Halloween book actually is focused on something that many kids go through in class…..having a problem classmate.
That is exactly what happens with Lulu Witch when she meets classmate Sandy Witch. They have trouble getting along (mostly because Sandy Witch is so good at everything) and it makes Lulu Witch not want to go to school. A great lesson for all kids in this book and it gives parents the opportunity to start a conversation.
Pinkalicious: Pink or Treat! – There is a problem in the town – the power has gone out on Halloween. Uh-oh – what about the candy, the costumes, the fun? The mayor actually cancels Halloween, but Pinkalicious works hard to come up with a solution. The mayor agrees and Pinkalicious saves Halloween!
Best of all, there’s an entire page of stickers!!!
Splat the Cat: What Was That? – Now here is our lift-the-flap book for Halloween, one with favorite characters Splat the Cat, Spike and Seymour. They get spooked when visiting a haunted house……..the last house on their trick-or-treat route. I’d be scared too!
Trick or Treat, Marley! – Marley is always getting into a bit of trouble and Halloween is no different. This lovable dog makes the biggest messes while the family is trying to make jack-o-lanterns and decorate the house for the big party. Marley was sad to learn that he had to stay home while the family went out for a bit of trick-or-treating.
But you know Marley – he’s up to something. He might just have found a way to have some fun at home – passing out candy to kids!
Monsters on the Loose!: A Seek and Solve Mystery! – this is the latest in one of my favorite series! I’m talking about the Seek and Solve Mysteries (we have Easter and Christmas ones already)! 🙂 It’s a cross between Where’s Waldo and a Who Dun It!
Someone has stolen the very last pieces of candy. You need to help Frankie (Frankenstein) find the clues on each page to help figure out who the candy thief is. It’s a process of elimination, which can be a challenge…..but by the last page, you should be able to name the thief! I’m not telling if it was Vampire Bob, Willy the Werewolf or the other suspects….you’ll have to figure it out yourself. 🙂
New Books for 2013 that we don’t have….YET! But I’m seriously liking them as we have other books from the series:
Click, Clack, Boo!: A Tricky Treat
Scaredy Squirrel Prepares for Halloween: A Safety Guide for Scaredies
