It’s almost Valentine’s Day and I’ve got a great list of new Valentine’s Day Childrens Books for 2014. Some are picture books, some are learning to read books, and still others even include valentine’s cards to tear out! Book and cards – genius!
Foxy in Love is a wonderful follow-up picture book to the first book in the series, “Foxy”, written by Emma Dodd. Emily is busy thinking of all the things that she loves in order to create a Valentine’s Day card. Her friend, Foxy the fox, tries to help her, but his magical tail always seems to get in the way. Emily loves hearts, but Foxy magically mistakens it for tarts. Oh boy. Always clever and cute!
Tulip Loves Rex is the new picture book from the author of another favorite, Biscuit. You’ll meet Tulip, a girl after my own heart, who loves to twirl and dance…..seemingly all the time. One day she meets a new friend, Rex the dog. Rex surprisingly liked to twirl around too. And in an all time favorite moment which will melt anyone’s heart, you spot a tag on Rex saying “Will you take me home?”. And Tulip does.
Love Is Real – is a simple picture book, perfect for little ones who are learning about unconditional love. It defines love with the help of animal friends who show that “Love will help you climb a tree and tape a bandage to your knee”. So many sweet moments and situations that kids will immediately recognize. Love this sweet one….though it’s a bit for the younger kids.
Little Critter: Just a Little Love (My First I Can Read) – this 32 page “I Can Read” book is for those very early readers. With large type and plenty of illustrations, it will keep a child’s attention as they learn how a little bit of love can help almost anyone feel better.
It’s Valentine’s Day (I Can Read Book 3) – now only $2.39 in paperback!! This is a great find! 48 pages and full of poems with the Valentine’s Day theme! Perfect for ages 4-8 and at a level 3 is great for emerging readers who don’t need a lot of help. This was ideal for my 6 year old….and quite a bit funny too.
Like I mentioned, there are several books this year which have valentine cards inside them to tear out and give to family, friends and classmates. How brilliant is that? Book and cards in one! Here are a few:
Pete the Cat: Valentine’s Day Is Cool – on sale for $5.40 (Reg $9.99) Hardcover. – This one includes 12 Valentines, a fold-out poster, and stickers too. After a bit of hesitation, Pete realizes that Valentine’s Day is cool after all and sets out to make cards for everyone…..the girls and the boys. But, he soon realizes he forgot one important person. With the help of his friend Callie, he is able to make a card just in time.
Junie B. My Valentime – on sale for $3.59 – This one includes 30 Valentines plus stickers. It’s not your average Junie B. book!
Team Umizoomi – Happy Love Day – on sale for $4.86 – This one includes over 30 stickers plus 8 valentines cards! A special Valentine has gone missing in this tale and Team Umizoomi works hard to find it and get it delivered in time. Do they succeed? Of course they do!
Enjoy!
This is a great collection! I’ve got to pin this for next Valentine’s Day…thanks!
