Just a few days before school started back up, I took my daughter on a special Mommy/Daughter date, which included a surprise visit to Build-A-Bear Workshop in Frisco, Texas (Stonebriar Mall).
Thanks to Build-A-Bear we were given a gift card to do a little shopping, but since this was an extra special trip, Mommy spent a bit more than the gift card. After all, there was one thing I knew she’d be drawn to right away – the My Little Pony animals!
So off we went! The excitement was building as we approached these doors.
Yes, Build-A-Bear has My Little Pony selections. When we visited you could find Rainbow Dash and brand new to the workshop (having just arrived in August), Princess Twilight Sparkle. If your kids are huge My Little Pony fans, I’ve been told that Pinkie Pie will be coming back AND Shhhhhh…….I can’t tell yet, but another one will be out towards the holidays. So, keep a look out!
If you’ve never visited a Build-A-Bear Workshop, essentially you walk through the store making several choices along the way to create your perfect stuffed pal.
First, you choose a pal. You’ll find so many options from traditional teddy bears to holiday themed (Halloween) animals and more.
They are not yet stuffed.
Next, you decide if you want to make your new friend have sounds. Anything from a simple song to a special phrase (including your own recorded message). You can add the My Little Pony theme song too!
Then it’s time for the magic to begin. It’s time to bring your friend to life (so to speak)….and stuff him or her.
And it begins with the Build-A-Bear Heart Ceremony. You are asked to select a heart (totally Free), which will be stuffed inside the bear. The ceremony varies a bit depending on which staff member is conducting it.
Generally, you are told to rub the heart against your ear (so your friend is a good listener), rub the heart against your head (so your friend is smart like you), and so on. The ceremony is quite fun and sweet!
The Heart Ceremony ends with a wish! Rub the heart between your hands, close your eyes, and make a wish.
Then it is time for your friend to get some stuffing! You can usually help by stepping on the pedal, as my daughter is doing here. A staff member actually does the stuffing.
But there’s so much more to do. You can give them a “bath” and brush their hair…..all part of the Build-A-Bear experience. For some it ends here. For others, you can purchase special outfits, shoes or accessories. AND…..you can dress them in the “dressing room”.
We outfitted our Twilight Sparkle with a special Coronation Gown and my daughter loved the idea of roller skates! 🙂 So we splurged.
Isn’t she lovely? 🙂
Of course, she had to have the leash to make the roller skates work real good! So fun!
