Fairy Mom and Me (Affiliate links in post)

Sophie Kinsella books. I remember reading my very first one, The Undomestic Goddess – I was an instant fan. With Kinsella’s wit, her characters came alive in a way that I could relate to yet laugh at. Now, I can share my love for Sophie Kinsella with my daughter, as she has written her very first book for young readers.

Introducing “Fairy Mom and Me”!

Just released this month, “Fairy Mom and Me” is a chapter book aimed at children ages 7-10, and follows the adventures of a mother-daughter fairy duo! The publisher sent me an complimentary advance copy – (I’m giving a copy away to one of you too)! Read on.

Ella Brook can’t wait to grow up, because one day she will become a fairy and have her own sparkly wings and a teacher on Fairy Tube, just like her mom! Until then, Ella has to learn by watching her mom in action. But sometimes spells go wrong, and Ella’s mom can never seem to remember the right magic codes on her Computawand. A lot of the time, it’s up to Ella to come to the rescue. Does she have what it takes to be a fairy one day? Or will there be more glitches than glitter?

Sophie Kinsella Books

Sophie Kinsella books are fun to read, so it is exciting to see the mom of five step into the young adult world. Don’t think for a moment that this will be a single stand alone book. Yes, you heard it here that there is already a book #2 waiting to go!

This is a book perfect to be read as a family. Moms and daughters will both love it, whether they read it separately or at the same time. You’ll find discussion questions in the very back of the book, leading to some great conversations (something which can be harder as we approach the tween years).

Can I also add that Kinsella has added suggested activities that go along with the book in the back? From making a fairy necklace to baking magic wand cookies, there is much fun to be had.

My version (which wasn’t a final copy) had approximately 139 pages, but it was an easy-read, especially for my 10-year old. There were 5 chapters with large words, and I would say it’s not only perfect for an early reader of chapter books, but fun for older elementary students who just want a quick and easy read for fun.
