A huge thank you to the Texas Motor Speedway for hosting my family for VIP night at the Texas Motor Speedway Gift of Lights and sponsoring this post.
There’s nothing like bundling up in the car and heading out for a drive through the neighborhood to see Christmas lights. It’s a family tradition. But we’ve got a new family tradition that includes driving through almost 3 million lights – it’s called the Texas Motor Speedway Gift of Lights.
Yes – with almost 3 million lights, this is one event you must see if anywhere near Dallas/Ft Worth this holiday season.
Best of all, this event benefits several local charities including:
- Scottish Rite Hospital for Children
- Ronald McDonald House
- Speedway Children’s Charities
- Toys for Tots
- Boy Scouts of America
- KLTY Children’s Charities
Hosted for the 2nd year by Christmas By Zenith, the Texas Motor Speedway Gift of Lights is even bigger and better than before. You wouldn’t expect anything less in Texas, right?
Hosted at the Texas Motor Speedway, the same place that shakes with excitement throughout the year with racecars, during the holidays it’s YOUR car that will be filled with excitement.
Every evening from 6pm – 10pm, 7 days a week from November 27, 2015 – December 31, 2015, you’ll drive your car almost 2 miles throughout spectacular light scenes. Making it extra fun, at the conclusion you can stop by Santa’s Village (but more on that later).
There are so many things to watch……your eyes will be moving the entire time.
For those whose faith means the world to them this time of year, there are special scenes throughout, from the Star of David to a beautiful Nativity Scene.
TIP: If you have a moonroof, be sure to have it open, as the kids will love going underneath many of the light scenes.
Some of the scenes outside the Speedway, on the grounds, are just breathtaking – like this one of the ocean.
Notice how their use of lights make it look like waves in motion. Pretty remarkable.
Ah……but I mentioned Santa’s Village, didn’t I?
Santa’s Village is an indoor venue on the grounds of the Texas Motor Speedway set up just for this event. My family had the chance to experience it before opening this past week and look at that smile.
Yes – my sweet girl has the biggest grin on her face and I’m going to let you in on a little family secret. In all previous years, we’ve never had a smiling girl sitting on Santa’s lap.
Oh, Santa, you outdid yourself this year!
After going through the Gift of Lights, be sure to stop by Santa’s Village to meet Santa himself through December 24th. The venue is decorated to get you into the holiday spirit – such a great way to kick off the holidays.
Oh, but it’s cold outside! Yes – at least as I’m typing it’s pretty cold. Remember you get to stay inside your car all warm and cozy during the lights and then Santa’s Village is indoors (I recall one year it was outdoors!!).
You’ll find goodies to eat and hot chocolate to warm you up for a small price as there is a concession stand inside.
Some examples include:
- 16 oz. Hot Chocolate $2
- Coffee $2
- Bottled Water $2
- Funnel Cake $5
- Kettle Corn $5
- Peanut Brittle $6
- Fudge $7
There are activities for the kids and my favorite one without a doubt was this.
Kids are provided free holiday cards to color and write a little note to Santa …..THEN………
THEN the kids head on over to the “post office” and mail to Santa (yes, even though Santa is just down the hallway)! Too cute!
The setup is just adorable and it’s a good thing I was paying attention as I had no clue what my daughter wanted from Santa this year!
Be sure to check out TMS Gift of Lights on Facebook to stay apprised of any announcements. EX….they had to switch the opening night to Friday Nov 27th because of our storms on the 26th.
Now for some extra fun……..
