Disney’s The Lion King is one of the most-anticipated movies of the year and we have enjoyed all the fun this summer. From all the themed photo opps we found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park to making Disney’s The Lion King-themed Dole recipes, we’ve been busy!

Dole, Disney and Finding Debra want you to join in the fun too, by making fun food with (or for) the kids, joining in Dole’s “Powering the Hero Within” initiative, and by entering a gigantic giveaway (worth approx. $200) full of Disney’s The Lion King items (scroll down to enter)!

Powering the Hero Within

This Dole initiative is one every parent and caregiver can get behind. Though summer maybe coming to an end, I want you to imagine a few of our favorite friends singing “Hakuna Matata”. When it comes to menu planning and getting our kids to eat healthier for you snacks, it can be a challenge.

Don’t worry, as Dole and Disney are here to help with a NO WORRY nutrition plan. This plan encourages all of us to adopt a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables. That can be a challenge for some kids, it’s true (even adults). BUT take a look at what you can pick up at your grocery store.

Now through Labor Day, Dole’s “Powering the Hero Within” initiative will have stores stocked with fruit your kids will want to fill the grocery cart with.

You’ll find our favorite Disney’s The Lion King pals like Simba, Nala, Rifiki, Zazu, Timon, and of course Pumbaa on select DOLE® fruit.

We are talking about millions of DOLE® Bananas and DOLE® Pineapples in supermarkets across the United States and Canada.

We headed to our local neighborhood store and quickly found the bananas we were looking for, but I’ll admit it was so hard to pick just one bunch. We will be going back and restocking. Why? Look at all the options.

It’s time to pick out a few recipes and get in the kitchen. Here are a few of my favorites to get you started (or for inspiration to create your own themed recipes):

I’m gathering all the ingredients for this lunch right here –> Lion Cub Lunch.

Made with DOLE® Pineapple and zucchini noodles, this is a lunch my kiddo will go nuts over!

For breakfast, I think we’ll make the Pride Lands Pancakes with Fruity Sauce.

Who can resist pancakes for breakfast?

I just might even make this Circle of Life Salad – no that’s not calamari, but apple slices! Brilliant!
