As a family, being active is important to us. While it can sometimes be a challenge with two of us having asthma, we just have to get a bit creative. With a 4 year old, you’ll often find us running outside, playing ball, and taking long walks with a clipboard in hand for a scavenger hunt. If it’s stormy outside or a particularly bad air day, you might find us dancing to the new Fresh Beat Band CD (someone is a huge fan).
As you can see, I’ve taught both my daughter and my 6 yr old nephew to ice skate recently……boy that was a workout! AND, the entire family walked in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in memory of my mom. I love being active together…..and I’m not the only one.
I first learned about Together Counts last year while at a conference. Together Counts is a nationwide program inspiring active and healthy living. The program is focused on balancing the calories we consume with the calories we burn. It’s a great resource!
It’s a first-of-its kind coalition that brings together more than 195 retailers, food and beverage manufacturers, restaurants, sporting goods and insurance companies, trade associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and professional sports organizations.
There’s so many ways families can work together to engage in healthy living…….from cooking and eating together as a family, to being involved in family activities like riding bikes.
