Earlier this year I kept hearing the term VSCO girls, having no clue what it could mean. All I knew was that VSCO was an app many used with photography. It took one google search to discover a world of scrunchies, hydro flasks, and tween/teen girls. As the mom to a 12-year old, I quickly learned all about VSCO girls. To help parents and family members with holiday shopping for this sometimes hard to shop for age group, I’ve created the Ultimate VSCO Girl Gift Guide, plus a little scoop on what all this is about.

Ultimate VSCO Girl Gift Guide
The VSCO (pronounced vis-co) girl is laid back and all about being environmentally friendly, but the terminology they use can leave parents confused. Have you heard the “Sk Sk Sk” and “And I Oop”? The former usually heard when something is funny or awkward, and the latter when a mistake is made (or they drop their Hydro Flask)!
While certainly a generalization, if you spy a tween or teen with any of the below items, you might have discovered a VSCO girl. Any of these would make a great holiday gift!
Scrunchies – do yourself a favor and buy these online, where you can get large bundles of 50 for under $10.
MOM TIP: Even us moms have scrunchies we use in our hair from time to time, but you’ll discover these are routinely worn on the wrist and a heads up that the VSCO girls are giving the scrunchies to boys they like. So if you are a boy mom, and discover scrunchies on your son’s wrist or in his backpack, it’s likely from a girl who is crushing on him.
Hydro Flask Water Bottles – these come in different colors and styles (are stainless steel, leak-proof, BPA-free and phthalate-free).
VSCO Vinyl Stickers for Water Bottle – trendy stickers for the much-loved Hydro Flask, but can go on laptops and so much more.
VSCO phrase shirts – VSCO girls are notorious for phrases like “Sk Sk Sk” and “And I Oop”
Now as I mom in my 40s, I have to admit to having had (or still having somewhere) items like shell necklaces (and anklet), scrunchies and yes, Burt’s Bees. So this VSCO Girls Gift Guide will not only help you shop for the VSCO girl in your family (I’m confidant I have one VSCO girl in our extended family), but also most tweens/teen girls in general.
What would you add to this list? Did I miss anything?
