It’s Earth Day and since my daughter was in school most of the day, we’re trying to squeeze in a bit of extra fun this afternoon. Worms in Dirt Dessert is great for Earth Day, but let’s be honest, it’s fun for any time of the year – summer, after school, etc!
On the Menu: Worms in Dirt Dessert
We first discovered this dessert at the Disneyland Hotel restaurant, Goofy’s Kitchen, years ago. My daughter LOVED it and I knew we’d have to make a version at home one day.
So, what snack could be more perfect for Earth Day? Kids love this Worms in Dirt dessert!
What you’ll need:
- Chocolate Pudding
- Chocolate Cookies (we used OREOs, but scraped out the filling)
- Gummy Worms (found in the candy aisle)
Step 1: Add chocolate pudding to an individual size clear bowl (for extra fun), hiding gummy worms along the way.
TIP: Feel free to cut them in half to make it easier for smaller individual bowls.
Fill the bowl up with the chocolate pudding to about the halfway mark.
Step 2: Grind up chocolate cookies to resemble dirt (a food processor makes this easy, but we actually just pounded the cookies inside a sandwich bag with a rolling pin). Sprinkle chocolate cookie crumbs on top of the pudding in each bowl.
Make sure a few worms stick out for fun!
FUN TIP: Wash small terra cotta pots to put the individual bowls in. The kids won’t believe their eyes!
